Back to Blogging

So work had tied me up for awhile, and then got lazy (hey at least I'm truthful), but now back by somewhat popular demand. First post back is a shout out to those that support this blog and want to see it continue.

Work has sucked in a lot of ways, not to mention missing the wedding of the closest cousin to me. It has been almost one year since his marriage in Honk Kong, and we were to meet once again at Slater's 50/50 in Anaheim Hills. It would be the first time to see his wife and to top of it she is expecting! The excitement built but alas it was not to be, a work conference call took precedence and his Kitty could not make it, but at least the cousins got to hang out.

Slater's 50/50 is a typical burger joint/sports bar, with many a flat screen TV hanging on the walls and beers of all sorts on the menu. The burgers are the specialty here, all sorts of burgers, one with 1/2 beef and 1/2 bacon! A meat lover's paradise. You can even design your own burger!

So what did my wife and I have? We both designed our own burgers:

The wife had the third pounder 1/2 beef, 1/2 bacon patty, Atkins style (no bun), topped with roasted red peppers, red onions, grilled onions, and baconnaise sauce.

My masterpiece is the spicy lover's dream, a third pounder fire patty with pepper jack cheese, topped with grilled onions, dill pickle chips, jalapenos and roasted green chile finished off with a chipotle mayo sauce.

The appetizer we all shared and it was the combination of french fries, sweet potato fries, fried pickle chips, onion strings, fried artichoke hearts and their vampire dip (made of garlic, mozzarella, parmesan and artichoke). It was so good, we didn't get the opportunity to take a photo before it was all eaten!

Overall, (and this is a flashback to my peeps from Guadalajara), the burgers did not quite make the taste grade of Bernie's, but it is one of the best here in the States that I have had. I'd say it beats Fuddrucker's hands down. It was a good eating experience, and having the Laker game in the background doesn't hurt either.

P.S. Congrats John and Kitty on the pending newborn!
